This campaign was truly unprecedented over the entire 14-year period of our collective work, particularly in terms of the participation of our fund members despite differences in viewpoints.
When it came to identifying the families of those who were killed, it was not important to me which city they were from, because ultimately they were all killed under the same roof—Iran. Unfortunately, a large percentage of these families are in very difficult financial situations. At the beginning, local shopkeepers, friends, and neighbors stepped in to help them get through the initial stages—covering the costs of retrieving the bodies and burial expenses. Naturally, after a week or two, as people returned to their own lives, most of these families—on top of the immense emotional trauma they had already suffered—began to truly feel the weight of serious financial hardship.
• In this campaign, a total of 3 billion and 240 million Toomans was raised through the participation of nearly 250 people. The collected donations were distributed to 9 families, specifically families who had lost a spouse or a child who was the primary breadwinner during the protests of January 8–9.
• In this campaign, Dr. Abbas Azadian, Nazanin Azmoun (Nazanin Az), and a number of friends from Ottawa played a major role. Without their support, it would never have been possible to carry out this campaign in practice.
• Frank Hazeri, from the family of the late Abdollah Hojati, who was killed in Rasht Bazaar, asked friends at his memorial ceremony to donate money instead of bringing flowers and to dedicate it to another family of the fallen. With great kindness, the amount collected was allocated to our campaign.
• The amount collected from the registration fees for Mr. Karim Ziani’s Molana classes was donated to this campaign. This coordination and generosity reached us through Mozhgan Yaghoobian, the organizer of these classes.
• Neda Sarbakhsh recorded a video in English and shared it on social media so that more people would become aware of our campaign.
• Davood Zawareh, Masoumeh Jahed, Dr. Kasra Sadeghi Ardakani, Diana Beauty Clinic, Sharareh Pourmand, Maryam Momtahan, Bita Zolfaghari, Najva and Ghazal Amin, Neda Behzadi Niko, Selora Lezrejani, Mojdeh Pourzad, Floreh Saremi, Parastoo Nik, Ozra Abbasi, Afsoon Shojaei Tehrani, Azar Hezarkhani, Zhaleh Sanei, Fereshteh Nik-Khah, Zari Fakhraei, Morteza Behrouz, Abtin Dezfouli, Zahra Emad, Sina Sotoudehnia, and Elnaz Arya, through their generosity, encouraged us to commit to supporting a greater number of families.
And without the support of the dear individuals listed below, we would never have been able to carry out a project of this magnitude:
( The names are listed in the Persian section of this report.)
With deep gratitude to every single person who stood with us and made this collective effort possible.
